The first human cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel corona virus causing COVID-19,
subsequently named SARS-CoV-2 were first reported by officials in Wuhan City, China, in December
2019. All available evidence for COVID-19 suggests that SARS-CoV-2 has a zoonotic source.

Transmission: Corona virus infections can be transmitted through droplets of different sizes: when the
droplet particles are >5-10 μm in diameter they are referred to as respiratory droplets, Droplet

transmission occurs when a person is in in close contact (within 1 m) with someone who has respiratory symptoms (e.g., coughing or sneezing) and is therefore at risk of having his/her mucosa (mouth and nose) or conjunctiva (eyes) exposed to potentially infective respiratory droplets.

Prevention: Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub, Maintain a safe
distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing, Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth, Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze, Stay home if you feel unwell, If you have a fever, a cough, and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention. Call in advance.

ROLE OF DIET AND HERBAL NUTRACEUTICALS:

Nutraceuticals are medicinal foods that play a role in maintaining well being, enhancing health,
modulating immunity and thereby preventing as well as treating specific diseases. Thus the field of
nutraceuticals can be envisioned as one of the missing blocks in the health benefit of an individual, In the present review much effort has been devoted to present new concepts about nutraceuticals based on their diseases modifying indications. Emphasis has been made to present
herbal nutraceuticals effective on hard curative disorders related to oxidative stress including allergy, Viral infection, Bacterial Infection, cardiovascular, cancer, diabetes, immune, and inflammatory as well as obesity. We have known for a long time that nutrition is intricately linked to immunity and to the risk and severity of infections. Poorly nourished individuals are at a greater risk of various bacterial, viral, and other infections. Conversely, chronic or severe infections lead to nutritional disorders or worsen the nutritional status of affected people. Therefore, it is imperative for all of us to pay attention to our diet and nutritional status during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
