(c) Objects and Summery of the Invention:
The present invention generally relates to the treatment of onychomycosis. More specifically, it relates to a formulation for containing Combination therapy of Tioconazole and a Terbinafin or salts thereof for the treatment of onychomycosis and related conditions.
In a first aspect, the invention provides a combination of Tioconazole and a Terbinafin or salts thereof.
In second aspect, the invention provides a pharmaceutical composition comprising (a) Tioconazole or salts thereof, (b) Terbinafin or salts thereof, and (c) a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. The composition may be in a form suitable for topical administration, such as Nail Patch and Solution through delivery by iontophoresis device.
In another aspect, the invention provides a topical pharmaceutical Solution consisting essentially of Tioconazole and a Terbinafin or salts thereof as the antifungal agents and one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients to deliver the Tioconazole and a Terbinafin from the dorsal layer of the nail plate to the nail bed.
In another aspect, the invention provides a topical pharmaceutical solution comprising (a) Tioconazole or salts thereof, (b) Terbinafin or salts thereof, and (c) a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
In another aspect, the invention provides a combination of Tioconazole and a Terbinafin or salts thereof, and one or more additional antifungal agent.
In another aspect, the invention provides a pharmaceutical composition comprising (a) Tioconazole, (b) Terbinafin, and (c) a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient which exhibits excellent storage stability.
A further aspect relates to a device, such as an iontophoretic device, which may include, or be used with, the anti-fungal Tioconazole and a Terbinafin or salts thereof formulation configured for delivery by iontophoresis.
An additional aspect relates to the use of the device and the Tioconazole and a Terbinafin or salts thereof. Formulation for treatment of an onychomycosis.
